I know, I know…monochromatic means all one color.
But this week, I did a little spin on monochromatic and chose to see the color “red” around me.

red wall | red berries in front of house | red flip flops (I should mention that I love that it is January and we can wear flip flops) | red wagon | red, white and blue flag | red swing | red shirt | red ribbon
Now head on over to {stockton, ca photographer karyn johnson} for her interpretation of this week’s theme.

Always love visiting your blog. makes me smile
Great idea! I had such a hard time coming up with ideas for this theme and never even thought to do what you did. Love the pops of red.
Love your take on red, esp the tones in the first shot of your daughter. And yes, a lil jealous with your flip flop weather!!
Love all the red. I so wish we could wear flip flops right now. Our weather has been unseasonably warm, so who knows, it might be sooner than we think!! Love love the porch swing!!
love your post and all the photos! Red is one of my favorite colors…I need that porch swing!
You make everything look so beautiful Kristin! Wonderful take on the theme.
Oh my! That red porch swing is perfect for pictures!! What a great idea for monochromatic.
Yeah this totally works – beautifully executed. They are all so gorgeous and unique.
I love your take on the theme…and holy moly, is that your porch and swing? If so, can I stop by and swing for a bit?!?!
I am so in love with this collage! I love the realness of the images you capture of your family. It totally inspires me! I adore the composition on the flip flop shot and I’m driving to Florida just to spend a moment sitting on that porch swing!
Love the spin you took on this week’s theme! The radio flyer shot is adorable!
You always know how to rock a post. For real.. I feel so inferior now!
I love the porch photos! Great light and composition!
[...] please head over to Gainesville, Florida-area family photographer Kristen Young’s blog for her take on this week’s theme: monochromatic! Thanks for stopping [...]
I love seeing all these different spins on the theme — great shots, love the flip flops!
A new year and another ten.
This month our ten came while we were staying a week in Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl (Um, yeah…Gators won).
All I have to say is that the staying in a hotel for a week with five kids on the same floor as the team was something kind of “special”.
I decided to document the last ten hours of 2011…

my thoughtful eldest came back from going to mall with friends with a shirt for me that she bought just because | last starbucks run of 2011 (can’t keep shoes on her lately) | i know, i know…two months in a row of anthro…what’s up with that? | i miss maggiano’s (specifically the cheesecake with strawberries) | downtown jacksonville from roof of hotel | air hockey in the game room (for the record, mr. white and i are tied at 1-1) | last dinner of 2011–chicago style pizza that really wasn’t chicago style | celebration gear | kids tucked or shut in while… | mr. white and i escape for grown folk time and fireworks….
but we came back to gremlins still being up…

happy 2012, yal.

7pm skyline shot is one of my favs. VERY cute 9,10 and midnight! I love that you shot all night! Happy New Year!
How I love that you captured the last 10 hours of 2011 while I was busy sleeping. Such an exciting life you lead! Thanks for the peek into your evening. Now I want to experience a Florida New Year’s Eve!!
Hello to all the Young’s! I’m just trying to navigate Facebook and I’m not good at it!!! Hope all is well, God Bless, Sista Sue
A few things…I’m totally laughing at Shannon’s comment. But would absolutely watch the show too.
Next, I think my favorite shot might be the city at night. How super cool is that? And lastly…seriously, could you look any younger or more beautiful? Nope.
i love that you were able to get new years eve!!! love these moments…that city shot, up when you get back, and fireworks..yay!
A trip to Anthro is always a good day
Loving that party hat too. It’s awesome that you documented the last day of 2011!
What a perfect time for ten, the last 10 hours, love that idea! I can’t believe your babies were still up, mine are a mess past their bedtimes! Love the shot of you and your hubs, you pretty Mama!
You always inspire me. I love your take on life. Happy 2012!

Normally, I would get all dolled up for a self portrait….Wilma out and fluffy, make-up on, perhaps even the remote trigger for the camera.
But with “first week back at school from the holidays and if I spend one more minute in the car shuffling kids and I just can’t get myself together madness”, this week it just wasn’t happening.
So when the peanut gallery asked to wash the car, I whipped out the camera to take some shots of them and then realized I could possibly do a ceative self portrait.

Now no one knows that I have no make-up on, my hair hasn’t been washed or I am wearing the same clothes from the day before….but I brushed my teeth.
Next check out sweet Stockton CA photographer Karyn Johnson for her interpretation of this week’s theme and begin our blog circle. I am sure she is way more put together than me this week.

Love your self portrait.. Love the water droplets of the first one.
Definitely creative…love them both and the mood you have created with them!
I love water droplet photos. They’re so moody. And, umm, yeah…I had no makeup on, either. I feel ya on that! Haha.
Wait, what? How come everyone is completely skipping over the fact that your kids offered to wash the car?! Can you send them to Vegas
And that was a cool idea, I like how the water droplets kind of blur you, very unique.
great job-love both of the shots you captured!
Wonderful shot and idea. And that first one is so awesome too.
Love the creativity, Im guessing you are stunning with yesterdays clothes, unwashed hair and no make-up too.
Love this! These self portraits are not fun to do but you did such a creative job
Awesome
so creative! i love reflections. very vivian maier.
lol! i can tell that you brushed ur teeth
. i got to see u in person, so i know just how beautiful u are already. love these though!
Ha. Self portraits always require so much work. Ya know, showers, putting on “real” clothes, mascara.
I love this approach.
Very cool self portrait! I like the processing on it and the creativity of it!
Cool set. I like you already, no makeup and all.
Happy New Year, yal!
Last year, I hung in there with fifteen other photographers to follow a theme each week and interpret it photographically.
This year, we’ve added some new ones while others have stepped away to pursue different projects.
One thing I learned while doing a workshop last month was to continue to do personal photography projects.
Be it running with a theme, photographing certain subjects or just picking up the camera with certain self imposed guidelines.
It pushes you to be a better photographer by allowing you to see the world around you differently and shape your artistic vision.
So, I decided to do the Project 52 again this year.
This week the theme is new.

So here is to more snuggles in the new year.
And to telling my friends and family that I love them more.
Now head on over to stockton, lodi and central valley, ca photographer karyn johnson for her interpretation of new.

i think not!
sorry i never sent you an email to thank you for all of your help before the holidays.
the craziness of Christmas got the best of me.
i cannot thank you enough for your willingness to help me.
{ps–i LOVE your logo}

Ahh.. I love seeing your sweet babies.. For real. I’m so glad you stayed around for another year.
Your images always make me smile. I will miss this group but will continue to follow your circle on Sundays along with some other photography projects I have for 2012
I love the simplicity of this moment. Here is to continuing personal projects with intent in 2012!
Such a sweet & tender moment!
Love these images! So sweet!
What a sweet and special image of them ~ just perfect!
Love the light!
Love the connection b/n the 2 you have capture here and love that window light!
These made me smile! Love the sweet snuggles and the hands in the air. I love the connection of older siblings and wee ones. The little ones always bring out the best in them!
Baby girl is just getting so big! What sweet snuggles…you can feel their love for each other shining through. Happy New Year!
Adorable! So so sweet. Love.
Happy New Year Kristin! Love the light in this photos. Don’t you love it when the kids are all peaceful and cuddly one minute and then the next they are jumping around like mexican jumping beans. So much like my kids.
Precious.
Awww, so super sweet. Snuggles is always a good thing to get more of. I hope you had a wonderful New Year!
